New York interior designer Betsy Boggs has created a line of custom dog and cat palaces in memory of her late Precious, a mixed breed Papillion and King Charles Spaniel.

Employing the same attention to quality and detail that marks Betsy's interior design work, each palace is bench-made by skilled cabinetmakers and finished with fine upholstery using designer fabrics and trim.

Because Precious Palaces are made to order, they can be sized to accommodate any pet. Betsy works personally with each client to choose a style and fabric that will co-ordinate with their residence and intended location of the Precious Palace.

Betsy's first creation was for her late dog, Precious, and it caught the fancy of everyone who came to her home. Friends and clients requested Precious Palaces for their own dogs and cats. After searching in this country and abroad, Betsy realized that no one was crafting luxury interior pet houses.

Precious Palaces were inspired by Queen Marie Antoinette's kennels, which Betsy saw while visiting Versailles in France.

The Queen was a passionate pet lover. She had her kennels created for her beloved Papillions, one of whom she carried enroute to the guillotine for beheading in 1793 (the dog was spared); her six Maine Coon cats; and her devoted Spaniel, Thisbe, who slept in her bedroom to alert her to danger.

Betsy's whimsical Precious Palace designs travel through history with style and humor, and serve as a focal point in any room, whether dressed in velvet, brocade, silk, paisley, leather, suede, stripes, or plaid.
